About Ascent
Ascent Hill Walking Club is based in the Cork area. The club was formed in June 1994 by a group of like minded people who felt there was a need for a walking club catering for the needs of all age ranges. We had such a massive response to our minimal advertising that we stopped marketing ourselves for a number of years, this site is currently our only form of publicity.
Weekend Walks
The club has a variety of walks of varying duration and difficulty most weekends through the year. We walk in all weathers and all seasons. We have about 100 members and an average turnout of about 20 people.
Walking Holidays
The group has on occasion arranged week long walking holidays. Though not a regular occurrence has taken us to Scotland, France, and Majorca. Please contact us if you'd like to find out more about our walking holidays.
Socials
We hold regular social gatherings and all members are welcome to attend. Some of these appear in the members newsletter, others occur spontaneously and include events such as BBQs, parties, cinema, theatre and concert trips along with days out.
